Client Terms & Conditions
Thank you for trusting Mary James Jewels. We are honored to help you create, source, redesign, and collect meaningful pieces you will love for years to come. The following terms and conditions help create a smooth and thoughtful experience for every client.
Custom Work
Custom projects are made specifically for you based on your approved design, gemstone selection, measurements, and preferences.
A non-refundable production deposit is required before production begins. The required deposit amount will be communicated before production starts and will be applied toward the final purchase price. The final project investment will be confirmed once the final design specifications have been approved and manufacturing costs have been established.
Prior to production, clients will receive CAD renderings and/or other design materials for review and approval. Once written approval has been received, production will begin. Changes requested after approval may result in additional charges, revised timelines, or additional design fees.
Once production has begun, changes may result in additional charges and timeline extensions.
Custom pieces are final sale and not eligible for return or exchange.
If a custom project is canceled after production has begun, deposits remain non-refundable. Any credit issued is solely at the discretion of Mary James Jewels and based on materials purchased, labor incurred, and whether components can be repurposed. Approved credits will be issued as Mary James Credit.
Final balance is due prior to delivery or shipment.
Special Orders
Special order pieces include items sourced or ordered specifically for a client that are not regularly stocked inventory.
A 50% non-refundable deposit is required before ordering unless otherwise stated.
Special order items are final sale once ordered and are non-cancellable.
If a special order is canceled after confirmation, deposits remain non-refundable. Any credit issued is solely at the discretion of Mary James Jewels and based on vendor commitments and recoverable costs. Approved credits will be issued as Mary James Credit.
Estimated timelines are provided in good faith but may shift due to vendor production or shipping delays.
Exchanges & Returns
We want you to love your piece.
Ready-to-wear, non-custom items may be eligible for exchange or Mary James Credit within 10 business days of delivery if unworn and in original condition.
Custom, resized, altered, engraved, special order, or personalized items are final sale.
Shipping charges are non-refundable.
Client is responsible for approved return shipping unless otherwise agreed.
Repairs & Client-Owned Jewelry
We are honored to help with heirloom and existing pieces.
Jewelry that has been previously worn, repaired, resized, inherited, or reset may contain hidden wear or structural issues.
While every reasonable care is taken, Mary James Jewels is not responsible for pre-existing damage, weakened prongs, brittle stones, prior workmanship issues, or issues discovered during repair, resetting, or stone removal/setting.
Additional work may be recommended once the piece is evaluated.
Repair timelines are estimates and may shift based on scope, vendor schedules, or issues discovered during evaluation.
Color Gemstone Enhancement Disclosure
Many colored gemstones in the jewelry industry are routinely treated to enhance appearance.
Examples may include:
Heat treatment
Clarity enhancement
Oil/resin filling
Irradiation
Coating or diffusion (stone dependent)
Unless specifically stated otherwise, gemstones may have standard industry treatments. We disclose known material information provided by suppliers to the best of our ability.
Natural variations in tone, inclusions, and color are expected and part of the beauty of genuine gemstones.
Prevailing market values are based on these universally practiced and accepted processes within the gem and jewelry trade.
Every gemstone is unique. Variations in color, inclusions, tone, shape, brilliance, and overall appearance are expected and contribute to the individuality of each stone. Handcrafted jewelry may also vary slightly from CAD renderings, inspiration photos, and digital images while maintaining the approved overall design intent.
Deposits, Completion & Delivery
Deposits secure your project and begin production.
Final balances must be paid prior to delivery or shipment.
Completed pieces will be carefully prepared for pickup, local delivery, or insured shipment.
Pieces remaining unpaid or unclaimed for an extended period may be subject to storage fees or additional handling arrangements after notice.
Ownership and risk of loss transfer to the client upon confirmed delivery or pickup.

Mary James Jewels may photograph or video completed pieces for quality control, insurance documentation, educational purposes, or marketing. We are honored to showcase the craftsmanship of the pieces we create while always respecting our clients' privacy and the personal nature of their jewelry. Client names, identifying information, and personal stories will never be shared without permission.
